You need a PaperDock account and one of the AI assistants covered by the PaperDock MCP connection guide. PaperDock's sign-in and approval flow handles authentication, so you should not create a bearer token or add custom headers.
- One connection covers every project you can currently access.
- Newly created or shared projects appear without reconnecting.
- Owner, Editor, and Viewer permissions continue to apply.
Why does PaperDock ask me to sign in?
OAuth confirms which PaperDock account your AI assistant may use. The approval does not copy your password into the assistant, select a fixed project list, or bypass project roles. PaperDock checks current membership and permissions on every MCP tool call.
What should I ask first?
Name the project and the result you want.
Create a project called Research Draft. We will use this project for the paper from now on.
Read main.tex and propose a clearer abstract.
Read main.tex, leave your feedback in Comments and Chat, and reply to the Comments I already added.
Open the latest successful PDF compiled from main.tex and check the abstract's layout. Tell me if it may be out of date or if you cannot inspect the PDF.
What if the connection does not work?
No projects appear
Confirm that you approved the PaperDock account that owns or belongs to the project, then use the verification prompt again.
The AI assistant asks me to authenticate again
Reauthentication can follow a disconnect, revoked access, or a long period of inactivity. Start the connection flow again.
An edit is rejected as stale
Ask the assistant to read the latest file before editing. Revision checks prevent an older read from overwriting newer work.
